Okay so I have been noticing these Event ID errors everytime I use Malwarebytes

Registry Hive Recovered} Registry hive (file): '\??\C:\PROGRAMDATA\MALWAREBYTES\MBAMSERVICE\S-1-5-21-1612665484-3622056812-1653071467-1001-04162017105151868-ntuser.dat' was corrupted and it has been recovered. Some data might have been lost.'

However other times I will get these randomly, and not every day or bootup

{Registry Hive Recovered} Registry hive (file): '\??\C:\Users\Ron\ntuser.dat' was corrupted and it has been recovered. Some data might have been lost.

Now I'm getting these on my Windows 8.1 ASUS ROG laptop and I did some research and people in forums were saying you could replace your ntuser.dat file to fix it, so I tried creating a new profile to do so but I got stumped by some of the guides on their since they don't provide many screen shots, and before I d anything else I wanna see if someone on this forum can help me with this issues

I tried that and ending up corrupting my registry drive. Thank goodness for restore point. Since the error doesn't seem to do anything bad I'll just think of it as a false positive Once I get a new SSD I'm probably just gonna clean install 8.1

  • 3 years later...

Here it is 3 years later and I have to go through signing up for yet another account (that I'll never use again) to complain about something that should have been resolved years ago.

Running window 8.1, very frequent errors, same as RedBatman's.

It only happens with MWB.  It happened the first time I tried it (years ago) and again (now)  on a completely different PC.

I'm uninstalling now.  Please let me know if and when you plan to fix it. 😉

Sorry you are having issues with the software.

Things can not be fixed just by posting on a 3yr old topic. Support logs are needed to diagnose you specific machine as all computers are different.

If you are willing to go thru the required steps we are more than willing to work with you on a solution.
