drives selected for custom scan not saved

Recommended Posts

I am using MB 3.0.6 CU 4.1.  I am unable to select drives to scan when using a scheduled custom scan.  I go in to customize scan and select which drives I want to scan and then click on OK.  I go back into customize scan and nothing is selected.  I found this out because my scheduled custom scan that ran this morning didn't scan any drives and ran in 9 seconds and it showed File System disabled.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Edit:  Actually, I just noticed that if I select Scan for Rootkits, that also does not get saved.

Thanks for the reply.  I think that is what I did.

I clicked on Settings.
I double clicked my Custom scan on the Scan Schedule tab.
I clicked on Customize Scan.
I selected Scan for Rootkits, Drive C:, and Drive: D.  My OS is on Drive C:.
I clicked on OK.
I clicked on OK to leave the Edit Scheduled Scan window.
I left the settings tab by clicking on Dashboard.

Then when I go back into Settings and look at my scheduled custom scan, drives C: and D: are no longer selected.

Earlier I was also losing the check mark next to Scan for Rootkits although when I tested it just now that wasn't happening.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.  Turning off self-protection didn't help.  I'm not having any other problems at all.  Everything else is working, I'm not seeing any of the other problems that are being reported here about 3.0.6.

By the way, I have a question.  Every time I change tabs when in Settings or when I leave Settings and go back to it, it asks me for my password again.  I have enabled passwords for making settings changes.  In MB2, once you entered you password once it seemed to remember and not ask for it again.  Is this the way it is supposed to work in MB3?  It is really a pain to have to enter it over and over again.

Thanks!

@BillH99999 I have been able to replicate the tabs requiring a password, and I'll follow up on that behavior to see if it's expected or not.

I've also been able to replicate your drive selection error, so I can relay that to our team. For now, you should be able to create a new scan with your selected options, and that should save your settings.

I'll give that a try although that is what I did originally.  I set up the scan initially with the selected drives and saved it.  When it ran for the first time it ran in only 9 seconds and didn't scan any of the drives that I initially had selected.  I tried going in and selecting the drives in the existing scan and they wouldn't save.

Thanks,
Bill

@dcollins

The new scheduled custom scan I created worked just fine.  Hopefully they will be able to correct the problem with modifying an existing scan.

Have you been able to find out if having to enter a password each time you go into settings or change tabs within settings is what is supposed to be happening.  This is really a step back from the way it worked in MB 2.

Thanks!

We have added the scheduled scan issue to our backlog, it should be addressed in a future build. I also brought up the discussion around the password on the settings the expected behavior is to have to type in the password for each tab. We did however kick off a discussion around adding some options to allow users to specify if they want to type it in more than once or not.

@dcollins

That would be a nice option to have.  I guess I really don't understand why this was added in MB 3.  The way it worked in MB 2 was fine.  Once you are able to supply the password once in order to get into Settings, it isn't really necessary to have to supply it over and over again.  This doesn't really add any security.  If I know the password the first time I'll now it every other time if I were up to something nefarious.

Thanks!
