"Error 13 type mismatch" doing an install

Recommended Posts

Bought a 3-PC/1-Year Premium CD to upgrade to 3.0.  Have been using 2.0 (paid version) on 2 PC's for a year.  Installed 3.0 OK on 1st PC- no problems.  Have been attempting to install on second one- no luck.  I click on setup.exe and get install screen.  I click on "Install now" button and enter the ID and Key numbers (same numbers as I installed on my first PC).  When I enter this, I get a message (Title= Malwarebytes Anti-malware) saying " Run-time error 13 type mismatch" with an "OK" box to click on which takes me right back to the CD setup screen.  I see no folders or logs created.  Tried rebooting, closing running programs, etc.  As a just-in-case, I removed the 2.0 version with Revo and tried installing a couple of times again- always with the same Error 13 message.  Any ideas?

Hello and Welcome... on the computer your having issues with try this...

Let's try this first.... (Please remember to de-activate your Malwarebytes first before un-installing or using the clean removal tool)

  1. Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - Malwarebytes mb-clean tool (after uninstalling you can download the latest version (currently v3.0.6 CU4) to re-install from HERE)
  2. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 4 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 4 logs are: mbam logs zipped, FRST.txt, Addition.txt and mb-checkResult.txt)
  3. NOTE: More info about the latest Malwarebytes 3.0.6 CU4 HERE; MB 3 User Guide ONLINE; MB 3 User Guide PDF; MB 3 FAQ: Malwarebytes 3.0 - Frequently Asked Questions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,

Hey, Guys-  I'm up and running!  I did run the mb-clean tool, and the log showed it couldn't delete any! keys, paths, etc, and I couldn't find anything either before I ran mb-clean, so I D/L 3.0 as the next step, and successfully activated with my ID and Key from the CD I purchased.  The CD installed fine on my first PC, but couldn't get it to install on the second one.  Wonder if it'll work on my 3rd PC?  You can close this one out as resolved.  Thanks for the prompt replies...
