A suggestion that when you uninstall a prior version it should tell you to restart your PC, not wait until you are in the middle of the new install. Typically when we recommend user's to uninstall the previous version we ask them to use the mb-clean tool (https://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mb_clean) This tool on running asks for a reboot. That's because there are unique cases where in the drivers/specific files will only be deleted on reboot. In such cases if you attempt to reinstall a newer version it will ask you to run the pending reboot to completely clean your system and reinstall the latest product.
