Hey everyone, my computer is always restarting at very high loads, it might be due to the cooling, but I am for certain that its not MWB, I am getting a new computer soon so that doesn't concern me. So yeah, the problem is that when scanning with MWB 3.x which runs at constant 100%, the PC restarts everytime and I will be soon giving this PC to my parents and getting a new one, and I just wanted to know if I can just leave 2.x MWB in it, will 2.x get all the updates in the future, or I must switch it to MWB 3.x at some point?

Also I plan to leave the license to them, so I am also going to buy one for me and for my GF which would be cheaper than just one for her, I wanted to ask, if I choose to buy for 2 PCs does that means that I will be getting 2 different paris of licenses or only one pair of keys that will be able to run simultaneously on two computers?

UPDATE: I also noticed that reverting back to MWB 2.2.1.1043 causes a constant warning sign that my program version is out of date, can this be ignored or this means that using this older version actually is not a good thing (all though I see a database version that is since today)?

From what I have read the high usage in MB 3 is by design as it does a lot of extras. I think they may be working on an option for that.

Also MB 2 is supposed to be retired in June but maybe MB 3 will have all its bugs fixed by then.

I only have MB 3 on a test system and use MB 2 on my other systems.

In MB 2 under Update Settings make sure the 2nd line is unchecked (Check for program updates). This is causing the out of date warning.

I don't know about the license part as all mine are Lifetime and good for MB2 and  MB3

Sorry to jump into your thread but I got nothing but crickets in mine. Where did you get version 2.X from? I want to revert back to that version. Their solution is to shut down web protection but thats the main reason I got MW to begin with.

Here is what you can do to get a clean install of MB3 which may help some of the issues your having. (MB3 does use more resources especially if you have the GUI open during the scan, closing it out and letting it do the scan in the background reduces the amount of recourses used)

Let's try this first.... (Please remember to de-activate your Malwarebytes first before un-installing or using the clean removal tool)

  1. Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - Malwarebytes mb-clean tool (after uninstalling you can download the latest version to re-install from HERE)
  2. NOTE: More info about Malwarebytes 3.0.6 CU3 HERE; MB 3 User Guide ONLINE; MB 3 User Guide PDF; MB 3 FAQ: Malwarebytes 3.0 - Frequently Asked Questions

If you still want to use MBAM version 2 you can get it from the link below.  Be aware that it will eventually go EOL.

https://data-cdn.mbamupdates.com/web/mbam-setup-2.2.1.1043.exe

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,

Firefox

I downloaded it from Bleeping Computer.

Thank you @Firefox I will try doing this, all though I hope that there will be an option to choose what type of scan you can use (slower, faster). I reverted back to 2 but the notification is pretty annoying and it just pops all the time asking for an update and it cannot be disabled for some reason..
