Real Time protection keeps turning off

I have had this problem, but I rebooted my system and when it came back on, I could turn web protection ON.

However, today I went to my computer and My ransomeware protection had been turned off. I turned it back on, but it is scary to think someone has the capability to turn that feature off.

I had run a scan, including rootkits this morning with no problems. I visit the same 5-8 websites all of the time and I also have Avast loaded as a pay customer (would love to drop that at end of subscription).

I hope this can be sorted out.
