Issues with Windows 10 Insider Preview update when mbam is installed

Recommended Posts

I tried many times to update my Windows 10 insider preview from 15046 to 15048, and it always failed and reverted back to 15046.

I then uninstalled mbam, and it updated Windows just fine. I had the same issue one, a long time ago, and after that no more issues, just now it started again with the 15048 update of Windows.

No idea if this is an isolated issue or anybody else also have this issue, just wanted to post about it in case somebody cant update Windows and has mbam installed.

My experience with 3 systems on Windows 10x64 Insider builds is that it is best to disable all protection (including self protection) on Malwarebytes prior to starting the upgrade to the next insider build.  One the build is installed, then reactivate protection.  And if Malwarebytes or the system acts up after the new build is installed, just do a clean uninstall/reinstall of Malwarebytes.  That typically resolves the immediate issue.....just my experience/practice.  This type of problem is not all that uncommon with AV type security programs.  In fact, Norton uses are having a "cannot upgrade to build 15048 issue" at the present time.
