Hi all - here's one data point for what its worth.  I just installed MB 3.0 Premium Trial yesterday.  This morning I got 39 Website Blocked messages that stopped abruptly at 10:20.  They were all related to blocking chrome outbound to an IP address:  (see below and attached)

  • File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe
  • IP Address:
  • Port: various
  • Type: Outbound

The popups stopped at 10:20 I suspect due to an auto update.

So at least for me a brand new MB 3.0 trial user the problem has been solved.

Hope this helps  the support team confirm their latest correction at lease for one type of MB user....

The fix was a welcome relief. However, now Web Protection is off and can't be turned back on (although I haven't tried a reboot; that'll come as soon as McAfee scan completes - why would that take a whole day?!?). Was the fix to turn off the engine that is supposed to protect against - and trigger the out of control popup - dangerous web sites?

Just to follow up, we pushed an update that fixes this. To fix the issue, simply update your copy of Malwarebytes (e.g. Malwarebytes 3.0 or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.x) then reboot your PC.

If needed, here are the database versions that fix this:

  • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.x Version: v2017.03.02.09
  • Malwarebytes 3 Version: 1.0.1404

If needed, here are the directions to update the database to the latest version:

  • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.x: Right click the Malwarebytes icon in the Notification Tray of Windows and select Check for Updates OR click the Update link in the Database Version field of the Dashboard.
  • Malwarebytes 3.0: Right click the Malwarebytes icon in the Notification Tray of Windows and select Check for Updates OR select the clickable link next to the word Updates under Scan Status of the Dashboard.

If you continue to experience this issue, please let us know and confirm the database version you have installed

Thanks for the fix Alex, which has stopped the popups.

In 'Protection History' how do I reset my 'Real-Time Detections' back to Zero? (I've deleted the reports)
