mrmickguitar Posted February 24, 2017 ID:1104074 Share Posted February 24, 2017 II use malwarebytes 3.0.6 and have 'scan for rootkits' set as ON in the protection settings, but after every scan the the report section informs me that -scan for rootkits' is disabled. Which is true? I want the program to scan for rootkits but I have no idea whether this is happening or not. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mick
mightaswell Posted February 24, 2017 ID:1104082 Share Posted February 24, 2017 Hi mrmickguitar your topic has been discussed in the following topic and others. dcollins said in that topic "I see that you have rootkit scans enabled for your scans, however scheduled scans will use their own rules. I would go in and verify that the scheduled scans specifically states to enable rootkit scans. If they are already enabled, disable and re-enable rootkit scans for the scheduled scan." mrmickguitar Posted February 24, 2017 Author ID:1104096 Share Posted February 24, 2017 Hi mightaswell Thank you for the information and links. I'll leave it alone and let the program do what it wants.. It's a lot cleverer than I am. Mick
Firefox Posted February 24, 2017 ID:1104101 Share Posted February 24, 2017 As mentioned in that other topic, you will have to edit your scheduled scan to include scan for rootkits. To do you do this: Go To Settings Go To Scan Schedule Click on your Schedule Scan and click Edit Click on Advanced Make sure Scan for Rootkits is checked
mrmickguitar Posted February 25, 2017 Author ID:1104294 Share Posted February 25, 2017 Hi Firefox Thank you for your help. I've checked the advanced settings (Rootkits was not ticked) and have done as you say. Both rootkits and archives are ticked so hopefully all should work now. We'll see! Thanks again, Mick
mrmickguitar Posted February 25, 2017 Author ID:1104328 Share Posted February 25, 2017 H Firefox I ran a scheduled scan this afternoon and all seems to be OK. First I did a clean install of the latest update and that also seems to work as it should. Thanks to all who have helped with these niggles, your advice and instruction is much appreciated.
