Hello Guys & Gals,

I am wring today as I am so tired of sending support requests but they need to be sent to help the support staff and devs find and fix issues.
Now with so many different computers and Windows os and others I understand some issues happen just like with games that are early access or betas.
But I had thought to go back to 2 for awhile but the problem is i was told support for 2 is ending so I can't even go back to 2 for long before it ends.

Now that said here are just a few issues and i see many others have same or similar issues.

1) Real time web protection keeps shutting off and i have to either end malwarebytes 3 processes or restart to be able to turn protection back on.

Now I have been told its virus protection doing it yet I have done selective startup where virus protection does not start, and the issue happens.
I have tried delays and changing malwarebytes 3 settings that support gives me and the issue still happens.
I have several computers in the house (not all mine) some windows 8.1 and some Windows 7.
They all now run Kaspersky on them and I have tons of exclusions but I know that's not the issue..

Now I was so sick of web protection today I uninstalled Kaspersky from my one system running Windows 8.1 using the Kaspersky clean tool.
Well it did not take long and after a few restarts I waited to see what would happen and Malwarebytes stayed running fine for awhile and then web protection shut off yet again.
So now I installed kaspersky again did some restarts and waited  then I used revo-uninstaller to remove kaspersky.
After some restarts i again waited to see what would happen and now it is the next day and real time web protection again shut off.
Well I installed kaspersky again and thought I am ready to give up, but Malwarebytes is worth its money in gold so I will have to keep ending services or restarting to turn real time web protection on forever (which really sucks).
Now I love malwarebytes and will keep using it but it is very frustrating.

That is my first issue now to my second issue which I only just sent support a message about as i did not want them to have to troubleshoot multiple issues.
So here is issue 2.

2)  So malwarebytes 3 keeps finding a bunch of .sys files and others and telling me they are pups.
And no matter what I do they keep being quarantined almost every day and then I have to un-quarantine them and do many restarts.

I have tried checking them and hitting next and it quarantines them.
I have tried checking then and hitting cancel and it quarantines them.
I have tried unchecking them and hitting next and it quarantines them.
I have tried unchecking then and hitting cancel and it quarantines them.
I have gotten to the point where it asks if I want to ignore them and I say always or once and Malwarebytes still quarantines them.
I tried adding exceptions for them but when i go to directory for exception from inside malwarebytes the files do not show up. Yet when i browse from outside malwarebytes I can see them. And I have the option selected to show hidden and system files. But inside malwarebytes when i browse only like 8 files show which makes no sense as there are hundreds of files in the directory. The files are in C:\windows\system32\drivers *and other various folders*

Its funny as when I click always ignore option it adds them to the exclusion list and then tells me the files have been quarantined and to please restart my system. When the system restarts the files are in the exclusion list but they are also quarantined.
If I un-quarantine them which I do, the next scan they are again quarantined even thou the are in exclusion list and the process repeats.

The files are only on the windows 8.1 system and i need them so having this issue bugs me a tad.
I have followed there help pages to the letter and yet this issue still happens.

Now all that said i still trust malwarebytes 3 and the staff/support, but I have to constantly fight with the software since i installed version 3 .
I moved 2 systems back to version 2 last week but I can't keep them there which means the issues they had with version 3 will again startup again when i switch back (I hope not).
I am also running the latest version 3.0.6 which is the last version I was told to download.
I have even tried multiple uninstalls using normal add remove programs and then makes sure all files and folder for Malwarebytes 3 are gone and doing a fresh install of it.
I have also tried using Revo-uninstaller to remove malwarebytes 3 and all registry entries and files.

I could turn off pup protection but that would be worse than the current issue.

But none of these steps change any of the issues.

This post is not to slam Malwarebytes as I still recommend it to family and friends as it is the best there is. And the support and devs are truly making a good product and provide the best support around by any company I have software from.
This post is only letting others who are on the forum who like me trust Malwarebytes  but are having problems know that they are not alone.
It is also to give the support staff and dev's a great big Thank You for all the hard work they are doing and doing well.
As I said with so many computers all having different software and hardware it does take awhile to find and fix issues.
Give them the help they also need by sending logs and doing the steps they give as it helps them and us as Malwarebytes users get a better product in the long run.

Thanks to the whole Malwarebytes Team.
Your hard work and effort does not go unnoticed and you are appreciated.

That's pretty much the reason why I still use Malwarebytes, well said.

I agree that exempting MWB folder, drivers, etc., is iffy at best and didn't work for me either. On the other hand, just disabling the antivirus allowed web protection to run just fine, so, there's a conflict between MWB and Vipre that needs to be resolved by the developers. And they are working on it hard as you said...

I do test MWB 3.x with Windows 7 and 8.1, but I cannot recommend MWB 3.x to my clients yet. Instead, all of them use the stand-alone Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Beta despite having licenses for MWB.

Well spoken...and boy, do I relate. 3.0.6 is causing constant grief...web protection turns off one morning, the next morning some other function disables itself...and through it all, it refuses to connect to MBAM's server, so cannot be updated. It is only because I am a long-time happy customer that MBAM remains on my PC (and mobile). I know they're working on these issues, and I have faith the team will sort it out in due course.

Well spoken... And what about your hope for the following:

Promotional Promises:
- "MAKES ANTIVIRUS OBSOLETE"
- "Stop paying for your old, clunky antivirus."

Facts:
- Malicious software is not detected during a download, the search must be started manually
- No spam or WiFi protection
- No firewall
- Only a shared strategy with other programms would allow some security
- Successful defense against malicious software difficult to detect
- English support only

I agree completey with your remarks except of one point.

I will not have the same loyalty to MB as you have.

If MB will stop the support for Anti-Malware 2 before they release a provably well running version of MB 3 for all OS, I will leave MB completely and will change to Emisoft or the freeware Spybot S&D.

Short analogous English summary of the German part of my reply to ZVAXX:

I suppose he's German like me because of some by him in English translated typical German phrases.

You have to accept the support only in English as long as MB more expatiates  in Germany. But that will not happen with the current buggy version 3.

Well. Like I said in another post-my router has ad/malware/virus protection also. It isn't as great as MB - I don't think any other program comes close to the detection rate of MB - that being said I also have turned of Vipre's web protection module and it can be turned on again and MB can be removed from my system. Do we know FOR SURE that it's anti virus causing this issue though. I uninstalled Vipre deleting all folders and running though the registry like I always do after an uninstall and MB still has it's web protection turning off all by itself and then not starting up unless I restart the service. Worse is the constant popups telling me to turn it on-I have notifications turned off and have deselected the option to register with Windows Action Center and STILL the popups happen every 10 seconds or so telling me to turn on web protection. It is NOT in-expensive for a man lie me-I pay for five license's yearly and it isn't cheap-I am not a rich man.

Vipre's web protection HAS caught virus/spyware/adware on the download before. Multiple times (it gives me the choice to continue downloading or not and sometimes I do because I am logged onto one of my VM's and I want to infect it to see what happens - VM's are awesome for that - snapshots are a wonderful thing).

So, I am going to uninstall MB from my PC. All the other PC's are running the last version of MB because I have not yet updated them; I only update my PC for testing purposes before I do my wife's and sons PC's...thank GOD--my son has been known to browse some nefarious areas of the web and I got tired of cleaning his PC. Either way, none of the other PC's I take of are displaying this behavior with MB. Just mine and MB version 3.0.6-the previous version worked fine.

I went to the MB website to re download the previous version in order to put my PC back in order but I cannot find it anywhere on their website to download--wonderful.

So, in approx. 2 months when all five licenses expire-we'll rely on my routers edge protection and Vipre and I'll say myself a few hundred dollars every year.

Who knows, maybe by then MB will have fixed the issue.

@yodamin...

I also have Vipre, among other layers, with MWB 3.06 and yes, the web protection may run for couple of hours to couple of days but inevitably, it'll stop. On the other hand, just disabling Vipre (no uninstall) allows MWB web protection to run. The developers are aware of the issue with Vipre and I am pretty sure that they'll fix it during the next two month.

Like you, I don't roll out MWB 3.x yet, just testing it with W7 and 8.1 on two PCs. Other PCs have the former Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit now in permanent Beta running until MWB is fixed...

I still have loyalty to Malwarebytes, despite all of the annoyances that the two month old package still exhibits. It's a growing pain that I am willing to put up with for another couple of month...

Well they're free to do anything they want to but if MB3 is still really screwed up in June and they end support for MB2 then they have only themselves to blame when they lose paying customers...In the end we as paying customers have the say...They can do what they want but I know I won't be buying 10 licenses for my computers if MB3 is still screwed up. If they want to act like MicroSnot and force people to do what they want we can give them the finger and say so long...This is Malware software not an OS so people have plenty of other options...

----------------------------------------------------

Just remember that MWB is stopping support for version 2 in June of this year 2017.
I was told by support so unles they change their mind after that no more 2.

Have a good one.

"Stopping support for version 2 in June 2017"

We'll see. As well as it looks, the more recommendable version v. 2 remains still for longer time. The Real-time detection of outbond etc. contaminated web pages and the recognition rate with the manual scan is equivalent to v.3, any more it does not need. All other are only advertising promises to pass the fight with the competition, the user has nothing of it. Insist on this facts, those who have paid for v. 2 for lifetime, will  that her product functions accordingly further and no one want to be abused as guinea pig for beta versions again.

I have exactly the same issue on 5 different PCs running in the family and have pretty much tried all the steps you've mentioned above too!

All have Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 and Malwarebytes 3.0.6 running on Windows 10.

No, partial protest. ;-)

4x stronger? Wrong because of not running RTP.   ;-)

4x faster? Wrong because of frozen scans or overburded OS or the ongoing  attempts to get the RTP running.  ;-)

4x the hassle? Plaudit  :-D

The correct tagline is:

Hey DanPS,

I have been told it is Kaspersky but I do not think so.
I have totally removed Kaspersky from one system twice.

First I used Kaspersky clean tool to remove Kaspersky and I still had issue.
Then I reinstalled Kaspersky and after some restarts i used Revo uninstaller to remove Kaspersky.
After some restarts I still had the same issue.
I have reinstalled Kaspersky again and so I carry on with support tickets.

The real stupid thing is the issues are so random.
I can get issue only 1 time a day or 30 times and the odd time not till next day.
For me i would prefer they continue version 2 forever until version 3 is fixed.

Anyways I hope they Fix it soon.

So last night I removed Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 and installed a 30 day of F-Secure SAFE along side Malwarebytes 3.0.6 on 2 of the 5 PCs.

No issues so far but its early days. I'll keep you updated.

Hey,

I hope it works for you as it didn't work for me.
How long has F-secure been on your systems?

For me after about 23 hours give or take an hour (i fell asleep at keyboard) without kaspersky, malwarebytes stuff down web protection.

Thanks for letting me know.

For me after about 23 hours give or take an hour (i fell asleep at keyboard) without kaspersky,

> malwarebytes stuff down web protection.

When these pesky issues cropped up (3.05), support blamed it on Avira, so I removed Avira. Sorry, no banana.

Next it was "We think Super Anti-spyware's the problem," so I removed it, too, and uploaded 3.06. Not only did Web Protection turn itself off again, but the dreaded, "Failure to connect with the update server" popup popped up.

Re-installed Avira.

Re-installed SAS (although it doesn't seem to do much but zap cookies these days).

Web Protection is still off on boot (with or without delay), updates still impossible, and MBAM support still dead silent.

I suspect the boys in the lab are more than a little embarrassed by this buggy disaster...I'm hoping it's motivated them to quit blaming the issues on someone else's software and hunt down the bugs.

Well said, however I would not be quite as generous about overall Malwarebytes handling of these horrible BUGS. I have over 100 clients with Malwarebytes 3.06 issues and as much as I would like to help them and solve this problem, only Malwarebytes can really fix these isssues because the problem lies with these upgrades themselves.

Hey,

Yes they have to at some point.
I understand the need for them to update Malwarebytes as for some they have to pay a fee every year.
That fee pays the staff for adding new definition files to catch new malware ect.

Problem I see is, if a change goes bad it could drive people away from their products.
For me i have the old adage if it aint broke don't fix it.
I cam to MWB many years ago after doing research and its good reviews impressed me.
I have been with it ever since and would like to be for many years to come.

I am sure at some point they will fix it and find the true cause of these issues.
i only hope that it is sooner than later.

Hey all! Let's see if we can try to get some of these issues resolved.

Web Protection not Started:

We are aware of an issue with Web Protection that does not seem to be related to Kaspersky. You can view the workarounds here:

Cannot Exclude Files:

Can you please grab the logs outlined here:

On top of that, can you export one of the scan result logs and upload them as well so we can identify what's being flagged?

Hello Dcollins,

First thanks for the post on the forum, I appreciate all the hard work and attempts to find and fix the issue.

As for what you said that I quoted above here is my feedback.
The first step  https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/195576-real-time-protection-layer-turning-off-try-this/

I have done that both ways and it did not help, nor has extended delays.
Since web protection is totally random the delays don't help.
I can reboot and web protection can be on and could stay on for hours or even a day or two and then shut off 10 + times in a day. It is so random I have tried to watch for a pattern and there is none.

2nd step you listed about exclusions is not a log issue or refusal to do.
Check point 2 of my first post and you will see what is said.
It seems malware bytes does not like system files so it wont even show them so they can not be selected to add exceptions.
I have the option on my system to show all windows files, hidden file and extensions enabled so I can see them all.
But when I try to add an extension inside malwarebytes and I browse to a directory system or other 99% of the files do not show at all when in malwarebytes.

For files in other directories if they show I can add exceptions but other directories nothing shows (or next to nothing).
It is not a refusal to not add exceptions it is no or few files show to be able to select them (at least for me).

Thanks for your time.

None of the suggestions helps at all.

At this point I don't have any patience to waste more of my time sending detailed information to you, much as I regret it. If you would make it less time consuming for users to give you the information we could afford the time. For example how about having a single menu button that sends all of the log information / configuration that you want to collect, and include A LINK to this FORUM ! ! ! !
