Malwarebytes Premium 3.0

Recommended Posts

Although I've turned Rootkits on, I get the following message in my reports: Memory: Enabled, Startup: Enabled, Filesystem: Enabled, Archives: Enabled, Rootkits: Disabled, Heuristics: Enabled, PUP: Enabled, PUM: Enabled. I would like to know why Malwarebytes Premium is not scanning Rootkits on my computer. Any suggestions?

This caught me out as well. You need to go into Settings/Scan Schedule and double click on the scan you see scheduled there. You will then see Edit Scheduled Scan - click on the Advanced button and you can then modify the parameters of the scan to include Scan for Rootkits. The parameters you set up under the Protection Tab don't carry over into the Scheduled Scan!

Hope this helps........

The scans where you are seeing rootkit scanning turned off, are they manual scans or scheduled scans?

If they are scheduled scans, you will need to to Settings - > Schedule and change each scheduled scan to include rootkit scanning. Changing the global option only modifies the setting for manual scans

Hi dcollins,

TempLost gave the best explanation of how to enable Rootkits: "This caught me out as well. You need to go into Settings/Scan Schedule and double click on the scan you see scheduled there. The other posts explain custom scan settings.

I just purchased a second license for Malwarebytes Premium 3.0 so I have it on both of my computers. But I'm having a problem with the new computer when scanning with Rootkits enabled. I was running a scan today for about 8 hours and it just wouldn't finish. The screenshot tells the story better than my writing. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The program is very effective. When I restored my computers, MBAM V 3.0 cleaned up over 60 PUMs and PUPs and also blocked several unsafe websites. If you don't like the program, why are you participating in these forums?

The program barely works and people are happy not to have any conflicts and/ or problems with various components disabled /not starting or infinite scans, so nobody can judge right now how "effective" is version 3.

PUMs and PUPs are fancy things to clean, they do not have any malicious behavior; unsafe websites... any antivirus will do that (except MSE)

So, I would say, you are wasting your annual license with v3, while waiting for a more stable version.

Good luck!

Have you tried AdwCleaner? Here's the link for the free download: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

Thanks for the report @Don12. If you don't mind, can you check something for me please? Once you start the scan and it hangs, can you wait 5-10 minutes and then run mb-check from the following link? It will create a file on your desktop named mb-checkResult.txt. Please upload that file.

Thank you. I saved the link in its own folder. I already fixed the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling MB Premium. Here's the screenshot. Should I use mb3 check as well?
