Hi,

Malwarebytes V3 & v3.0.5 was using around 300mb of Win 7 system memory on my laptop, compared to 60mb with my Eset Smart Security. This extra memory hog by MB was killing my laptop battery, i was lucky to get 4 hrs on a full charge, yet without MB i was getting at least 6 hrs usage. Anyway I uninstalled the Malwarebytes bloatware and won't re-install until the system memory issues are sorted, so just wondering have these been 'cured' in v3.0.6? I suspect not but thought I'd ask anyway. I have a MB lifetime licence so can wait :)

Cheers

The memory usage has remained about the same now for at least a couple years. Amazingly they were able to add other protection modules and still keep the memory about the same. As for it being much lower, I don't see that change happening anytime soon. I do find it difficult to believe that memory usage alone adds or removes 2 hours of battery life from any program. I can see hourly updates and scans reducing the battery life  as it causes CPU usage and Disk IO - memory on the other hand is not quite as disruptive. Don't currently have time to do that type of study, but an interesting statement worthy of further testing to verify or not.

Thanks for the replies. I was definitely getting a significant power hit on my laptop (Thinkpad X220 i7 with 16gb RAM) with MB v3 installed, i could hear the CPU fan almost constantly running yet this magically disappeared with MB removed. I had updates set to every hour (same as ESET Smart Security) but scheduled scanning disabled. Probably not much of an issue on a desktop or on a laptop permanently connected to a power source but I wouldn't want to install this bloatware on a laptop running mainly on battery power. Its a shame because MB does an excellent job but it seems it requires significant CPU/memory resources to do its job. Anyway i won't be installing this again until the high CPU issues are resolved....which may be never :(

I'll as this question again in a few years time :D

Unfortunately, they are completely deaf on this ear - whether they are able to solve the problem - in principle? (Not that they did not know ...)
