I have noticed on several occasions the the real-time web protection is turned off when I start the computer. My wife was looking at something on Houzz and got a popup saying Mcafee detected 2 adware sounding threats and wanted me to remove them. I just shut down everything and rebooted the machine. When restarted I did a scan and MB found nothing. Why does MB Web protection keep turning off?

Known problem.  Katzenjammer : PC configuration:  Windows 7 Professional and MB (Malwarebytes 3.0.6.1469)

Recent (few days) experience:  reboot PC and MB real-time web protection layers are off.  Open MB shortcut icon.  Click on Settings.  Click on Protection.

Click on Web Protection ...and quick activation from 'off' to 'on'.

Shutdown Katzenjammer PC in Sleep / Standby mode and on reboot problem returns.  Shutdown again in Restart mode and

real-time web protection is again activateable.

On this forum if you go to Activity => All Activity you will see a number of entries addressing our issue with MB, e.g.

I just want to pass this on in case it helps anybody.  I was experiencing the problem related to the real-time protection layers are turned off message upon power-on/restart and found that it was related to a problem with EA's Origin program, which I recently installed.  I'm running windows 8.164.  My system event logs showed this Error at startup.

Service Control Manager w/ Event ID 7009

A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Origin Web Helper Service service to connect.

I fixed this by going to system admin tools and bringing up Services and changing "Origin Client Services" from automatic to manual.

i just had to do this again when origin updated itself recently.  I have Origin and MWB running on other win7 and win10 machines and don't see this issue so it could be related to win8 or other problems on this machine.
