Real time protection layers turned off in 3.0.6

Recommended Posts

My MalwareBytes was just upgraded to 3.0.6 under a Grandfather update.  In the past the old version seemed to have run flawlessly. I now find that the new version has turned off Real-Times Protection layers.  A pop-up box gives me the option to turn on the layer or go to Protection Settings.  When I select "TURN ON" the box disappears and then returns with the same warnings and options.  When I select "Protection Settings" it allows me to manually set the options, but when I set Web Protection to on it just shows "starting" and nothing else happens.

Hi @bitbight, please try this to see if it fixes your issue:

If it is your "Website Protection" having issues, please try the following two things:

  1. Under Settings -> Protection, turn on "Enable early startup for self-protection module". Then reboot and see if your protection module starts up
  2. If that doesn't work, under Settings -> Protection, turn off the option for "Enable self-protection module". Then reboot and see if your protection module starts up

I have tried both suggestions with no success on either.  I also downloaded a new copy of the software and reinstalled over the existing copy, no success the problem remained.  I have this software running on two identical systems.  This one has the problem, the other is running fine.
