These instructions are no longer valid for recent versions of Malwarebytes 3. If you are still having issues with Real Time Protection, please follow the instructions here:

Upgrading to the latest version:

  1. Open up Malwarebytes and navigate to the Settings -> My Account tab
  2. Take note of your license key and save it
  3. Uninstall the current version of Malwarebytes by using the Control Panel
  4. Once uninstalled, download the latest Malwarebytes 3 from https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3
  5. Install the latest version and activate it with your key from step 2
  6. If you are still having issues, please try the steps below and create a new thread so we can continue troubleshooting any new issues

This is for users experiencing an issue with real-time protection in Malwarebytes version 3.0.6.

If it is your Website Protection having issues, please try the following two things:

  1. Under Settings -> Protection, turn on "Enable self-protection module early start". Then reboot and see if your protection module starts up
  2. If that doesn't work, under Settings -> Protection, turn off the option for "Enable self-protection module". Then reboot and see if your protection module starts up

If real-time protection layer is turning off and it is not website protection related, please try uninstall and reinstall. Here's how:

  1. Uninstall Malwarebytes 3.0 via Control Panel. Here's how: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/uninstall-a-program-in-windows/
  2. Download and install the latest version of Malwarebytes 3.0. Here's how: https://support.malwarebytes.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2615292-how-do-i-install-malwarebytes-3-0-?b_id=15026
  3. Activate Malwarebytes Premium. Here's how: https://support.malwarebytes.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2615306-how-do-i-activate-malwarebytes-3-0-?b_id=15026

If you are still having trouble after trying the above, please create a new topic here: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/forum/41-malwarebytes-30/ and be sure to add details of your issues as outlined here:

Thanks,
Cecile

Hello all--

The last component update to 1.0.75 (Malwarebytes 3.0.6 CU3) addressed a number of issues with Web Protection which could cause it to not start properly on certain systems, randomly.

We have also been investigating separate reports of other protection modules showing similar symptoms. We believe we've finally found what has been contributing to this problem. Unfortunately this is another case where the problem happens intermittently, and only on certain systems, so it was very hard for us to reproduce in-house. But once we had a reproducible case it was straightforward to identify what we hope is the solution. This is in testing now and we hope to release another component package update later this month with the fix.

We appreciate your patience.
