I am on a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1  See  attachment for MBAM version and updates to it.

I am posting this here rather than the MWB 3.0 forum because I don't want to clutter it with basics (clean install) nor another issue that isn't really important to me.

My last posting about an issue shows up Sat 28th...SUBJECT: Windows Defender quit due to other malware protection.  It relates I had waited two weeks after complying to assistance by posting the prescribed FSRT and Addition texts.

I was never too concerned because it was not time sensitive in the first place, and perhaps with a rapid succession of versions of MWB coming out to address 3.05 issues, perhaps I was ignored because I was supposed to know to overlay the newest (now 3.06.1469) that would make my issue a moot point. I always felt I could do a clean install of this latest version that would resolve my original ill of my AV stopping on me because of use of "other protection."

An earlier and different issue I had relating to serious malware I picked up that MWB successfully quarantined and I removed, but I still had a concern,  prescribed I first begin with a removal of all things Malwarebytes and re-install with the newest version before doing the FSRT and Addition texts.

QUESTIONs:

My RevoUninstaller currently shows I have two different versions of Malwarebytes  Maybe because I d/l 3.05.1299 onto its predecessor.

1.   I would like to do a clean install.  Is that is ok ?

2.   Am I correct about this is completely correct.....

a.  Use my ADMIN account to do this (not my current user account I use to operate the computer);
b.  D/L to be done into a folder on the desktop;
c.  Allow the hidden files to be shown
d.  D/L and use the MBAM-clean protocol, including rebooting the computer twice when timely approrpiate.

I have my premium license in a safe place.

Thank you in advance !

This thread should still have been posted in the Malwarebytes 3.0 section. I requested for it to be moved there.

This is okay. You can uninstall both version of Malwarebytes you have installed (this is what I can understand from your post). Don't forget to deactivate your licence first.

You can only install Malwarebytes with Admin Rights, so yes.

b.  D/L to be done into a folder on the desktop;

This will not affect the installation.

c.  Allow the hidden files to be shown

This will not affect the installation.

The mbam-clean.exe tool only works on Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.x installs, and not 3.0. So using it after uninstalling Malwarebytes 3.0.5 won't do anything.
