reverted to 2.2.1.1043 and scans are stuck at checking for updates

I recently reverted to  2.2 because 3.0 was giving me some issues. However now whenever i attempt to do any scans it gets stuck on checking for updates and im not sure what to do.

Please attach (do not compress, or Copy/Paste) the 3 diagnostic report output files from both Log Set 1 and Log Set 2 from within Assistance obtaining computer system information

The 3 files to be attached are named FRST.txt, Addition.txt and, CheckResults.txt.

sorry for the late response i had posted this late and went to bed.

it seems i can scan individual files by right clicking and clicking scan with malwarebytes. when i do this it will ask if i want to update and pick later and it scans the file, but if i try a normal/custom scan it never asks if i want to update and just stays at checking for updates.
