Afraid to update to 306!

Recommended Posts

I have been using your wonderful free version for a long time.  When I was notified a new version was available, I updated from 221 to 305, and paid for two years.  Now, I keep getting these popups!  So, I've been reading this forum for three days now, and it is confusing.

Is this new version working right?  Should I uninstall back to version 221?  If I deactivate my key, and uninstall it, the icon will be gone from the taskbar to update it!

I'm old and cranky, and need help!  Thanks!

Hi Brattinella :)

Malwarebytes 3.0.6 is considered stable enough to be pushed through auto-upgrade for Malwarebytes 2.x users. So you have three options:

1) Either stay on your current 2.2.1 and wait for another Malwarebytes 3.0 release (like 3.0.7 or else) if you're not sure if you want to upgrade now;
2) Lurk the forums for the next couple of days and see if Malwarebytes 3.0.6 looks stable enough for you to upgrade;
3) Upgrade to Malwarebytes 3.0.6 right now and see how it goes;

In any case, we'll be ready to assist you shall you encounter any issues.

Edit: Just read your new post, you're ready to upgrade to 3.0.6, but need instructions, right?

Yes, thank you for responding!  I do need instructions, do you need info about my system?

I'm having issues also with the new update on my Premium account...I recently purchased Premium (11/2017) and went with the new update within the last few hours and it is causing errors in Event Viewer plus it is slow to activate once I restart back to my desktop (thus causing those event errors).

Should I go back to the older version? Is that possible? Plus upon the update I noticed Anti-Exploit was removed...is this included with the new update?

Thank you!  I am running Win 8 (no updates) FF v 029.  Yes, I know it is old, but I like it.  Also ABplus, NoScript,  and Ghostery.

the issue i seem to be having is upon restarts(after the update) MBAM is slow to activate thus causing Event ID errors...plus it removed Anti-Exploit I had running. Is this normal?

okay while i was typing this i see that the new update includes Anti-Exploit (good deal!)

You are at risk of being infected with this setup sadly. Consider updating your Windows 8 (to at least 8.1) and Firefox.

Sorry I thought I was answering your previous question....I'll just try a reinstall...

Event errors are the the errors shown in Event Viewer with ID's an MBAM is at the top of the list upon restarts

To brattinela, no do not go to the old version 2.2.1  There is no need for that.  Plus you would be regressing  ( version 3.0.6 has more protections).

What Aura was telling you, was that using a ancient version of Firefox puts your pc at high risk.  Get your Firefox browser updated.

I am using FF v 029 for a reason.  If I upgrade it, it will mess with all the rest of my programs and add-ons.  Why did the free version 221 work, and this new one will not?

Seriously, it worked just fine until I paid for it!  Two years worth.

Brattinella.  I would like to be sure you are aware, version 2.2.1 is not the ultimate complete way to go for the future.  Version 2.2.1 will eventually fall out of support.

I also have a concern about the possible mis-impression ( whether said or unsaid, implied or not) or "linkage" to any version of Firefox.  The current Firefox browser release is 51.0.1

I would ask, why stick to a much older Firefox  version ?   There is no reason to link whether one gets Malwarebytes 3.0.6  based on  a Mozilla Firefox.
