Malwarebytes 3.0

Recommended Posts

I am using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.2.1.1043 - lifetime license.  For the first time I am getting the message that I need to update to 3.0.6.1469.  I am extremely anxious about doing so given all I have been reading here.  Is it safe to do so?  If so, what is the best method for doing so?

Hi @robkarp, yes, it is safe to upgrade.

We recommend people start with a normal upgrade -- so, click the Upgrade button in the popup. This method of upgrading working fine for a large portion of our users, so it may work fine for you. If you come across errors, then we would recommend doing a removal/reinstall.

Here's how to do the removal/reinstall if you do face issues or if you prefer to upgrade this way:

  1. Launch your Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
  2. Click My Account
  3. Click Deactivate
  4. Click Yes in the deactivate license popup
  5. Uninstall Malwarebytes Anti-Malware via Control Panel
  6. Download and install the latest version of Malwarebytes 3.0. Here's how: https://support.malwarebytes.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2615292-how-do-i-install-malwarebytes-3-0-?b_id=15026
  7. Activate Malwarebytes Premium. Here's how: https://support.malwarebytes.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2615306-how-do-i-activate-malwarebytes-3-0-?b_id=15026

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
