Hi MrMX--

No, unfortunately in this case 3.0.6.1458 will not automatically upgrade to the public release (the update system does not allow for updating builds--only full version patches).  This means that you'd need to uninstall / reinstall to get on the final 3.0.6 version.

However, it is not strictly required that you do this as build 1458 will receive all other standard product updates and upgrades just fine.  There will be very little difference between the two 3.0.6 builds, so it would be fine to remain on 1458 until another full patch is released.

What happens when 3.0.7 is officially released? Will that too require a uninstall/reinstall over yje 3.0.6.1458 preview, or can we just install over it with the 3.0.7 trial package.

I didn;t realize we were giving up the ability to update when we install the 3.0.6 preview.

Not to worry!  When the next patch release comes out, you'll receive an upgrade notification in-product and will be able to upgrade right over 3.0.6.1458 as usual.

Honestly, the only anticipated difference between the two 3.0.6 builds (unless something new comes up) is one obscure issue related to removing exclusions.  If 3.0.6.1458 is running okay for you, there's no need to move to the "final" version once it's out.  You'll get all other database / component / release upgrades normally going forward.
