This is a false positive from Norton. If you downloaded Malwarebytes 3.0.6 from the link provided in the Release Preview thread, it is safe to run. I would disable Norton while you install Malwarebytes and before enabling it again, add Malwarebytes' files and folders to Norton's exception list. You should also report that false positive to Symantec.

There's two way to proceed with this error: either you click on the "Ignore" button (like @Porthos suggested), let Malwarebytes install and see if it works, and if it doesn't, we'll have to uninstall Malwarebytes 3.0 and run a FRST fix to remove the self-protection service and driver. Let me know if the first option fails, and I'll provide you instructions for the FRST fix.

Yes clicked ignore and  started to install then I came across three more files

that would not update.

I did not get to complete the install and it rolled back.

Protection is not started I will wait to reboot.

Uploading file to the cloud now.

I will have to wait to reboot.

I will let all know.

That is where I am getting these conflicts.

Trying to install version 3.0.6.

I am now back to version 3.0.5 after the unsuccessful update

to 3.0.6.

I am fearful of trying to update now.

I had version 2.21.8.9 and never received a notification to upgrade

to ver 3 and this was  common place as seen in another forum.

Reasoning was Version 3 was not up to snuff.

I am totally confused at this point.

Glad I still have Norton!

Deactivate the licence before uninstalling it, yes. And yes, install the new version after.
