I recently installed MWB on new system. I have 3.05  but I see that 3.06 is available - download app updates auto does not seem to be working. Everything seems to be working fine and I have mentioned that I do like it, HOWEVER, most every day the "protection not working" orange window comes up and I have to enable web protections. The other protections always seem to load but that one does not . Also, the default settings for scans etc has not been changed since the new install. It states, every day -- first, should scans be run every day? As I recall a moderator once told me that it is bad to do as it is hard on the hard drive. In any case, I opened the program yesterday and a scan had not been run for 7 days - so I ran one.  Also, I just tried to open the program and it took about 5 minutes. It just popped up now, I really like the program but I guess it does have a few bugs. Thanks.

Good morning @Dublin70! You're correct, the 3.0.6 public preview is available, but is not being pushed out to all users yet, which is why you're not getting the update prompt inside of Malwarebytes.

That being said, most of the issues you're experiencing are resolved in the 3.0.6 version, I would recommend removing your current version and installing the public preview from here:

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Hi - did as you suggested. Put 3.06 on system late yesterday. However, this morning same issues arise. The orange box with protections disabled came up and then it got stuck when I tried to activate.- little twirly going around and around --- aaargh.... I uninstalled until I hear back from you. Thanks.

Don't know why this reply box came up again with my original statement. In order to get screen shot, I will have to reinstall. I'll get back to you with a SS after reinstall if it  does it again. Thanks.

Launched fine this morning however after 10 minutes or so, the orange window came up saying updates not current. I opened the program and it said - updates current. I went to the mbam service area but there is no log listed. Mbam service is in the folder you mention but no logs. Is there any other way to get into that area - thru mbam for instance? Otherwise, seems to be happy this morning. Thanks again.

@Dublin70 there is no folder named logs that has files inside of it? There's no way to open that log from inside of MBAM, but we can try this.

  1. Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to your desktop
  2. Then download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool from here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-recovery-scan-tool/ and save it to your desktop.
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system.
**After you click the Download Now 64-bit, or the Download Now 32-bit, another page will open — DO NOT CLICK ANY ADDITIONAL 'download now' buttons, just wait and look toward the bottom of your browser for the option to Run or Save. Click Save.
  3. Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to the disclaimer.
Note: If you are prompted by Windows SmartScreen, click More info followed by Run anyway.
  4. Click the Fix button
  5. When the process has finished, it will save a log in the same directory the tool was run from as well as a zip file with the date
  6. Please upload both the log file and the zip file to your response

Everything is working fine on a few reboots. Blue bat comes up in systray and does not have a red alert on it. System has not slowed down - which drives me crazy as it does most people, I'm sure. Anyway, all is working fine - I will obviously keep this thread in mind if problems reoccur with mwb. Thanks again,.

Here's what I found:

MWB 3.06 hangs when doing automatic updates.  This hang affects other programs (e.g., typing in Outlook hangs, Firefox fails to launch, the task manager takes a long while to appear). Problems disappear when the Malwarebytes service is killed through task manager.  Of course this necessitates a reboot to get MWB working again. This is on Win 8.1 Pro.  The Web protection issue also occurs.

To DCollins - we now have a couple of wrinkles - I uninstalled v3.0 this morning because mwb seemed to be hanging my system up, so the file you said to download, MB3check, will not reflect what is going on. Also, did not deactivate before the uninstall. SO... should I reinstall, run mb3check, deactivate and uninstall??? I don't need anymore issues with this pc. I just paid to get win7 reinstalled and all is working fine - except for our dear mwb.  I really like this program but perhaps I should just go back to V2 which I have downloaded. I will await word from you before I do anything else. Thanks very much.
