Malwarebytes 3.0.6: Tray icon still doesn't launch on startup, and web protection cannot start.

I don't know if these issues had been addressed in the latest release but, on my Windows 10 Pro x64 (14393.693), the Web Protection module stays stuck at "Starting..." after a reboot, and the Malwarebytes tray icon still doesn't show (MBAMTray.exe doesn't get launched on startup).

Hi @Aura, this should be addressed in the 3.0.6 release. Are you able to perform the following steps for me to verify everything upgraded properly? Thanks!

1. Uninstall your current installation of Malwarebytes
2. Browse to C:\Windows\system32\drivers and verify that mwac.sys is not there. If it is, delete it (you may have to reboot first to delete the file)
3. Reboot the computer
4. Install Malwarebytes 3.0.6 and activate to premium
5. Reboot and check if Web Access Protection starts properly

If it doesn't, please upload a new copy of your mbamservice.log file. Thanks!

Sorry, I wasn't able to get back to you before today. I just started my computer tonight and the Web Protection module was started without any problem (nor interaction from my part). If it occurs again, I'll follow your instructions.

I have the very same issues that Aura had. However when I follow your steps dcollins I cannot even uninstall Malwarebytes according to step 1. I get an error message saying: Error.File "C:Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\unins000.dat" could not be opened. Cannot uninstall. Error 5: Access is denied."

What can be done?

@santamonica try disabling Self-Protection inside of Malwarebytes under Settings -> Protection and then see if uninstalling works

Ideally all the issues will be fixed in a future release  But we do have that issue in our issues list so we can eventually resolve it

Alright, that's good I'll just sit back and wait for that release (that issue isn't bothering me that much, if I need to open Malwarebytes, I do it from the Start Menu so).

There is no "Self-Protection" inside of Malwarebytes under Settings-->Protection.

You will have to scroll down a little bit, but you're looking for the option that says "Enable self-protection module" and you want to turn that off

Ok dcollins, I had missed to scroll down. Found it and turned it off. Tried to uninstall again but now I got another error message:
"Error. Runtime Error (at 44:134): Could not call proc.

Can you run the latest version of mb-Check from the link below and upload the log file please? The log file will be placed on your desktop and should be named mb-checkResult.txt

I got help from Malwarebytes support (through the website). I had to uninstall the old MB in Safe Mode which in itself turned out to be a bit of a challenge. Finally managed to log in and uninstall MB and then reinstall the latest version of it. 

Web protection is turned ON again and I have a working desktop icon!

I had the same problem, I would enable Web Protection and it would get stuck saying "Starting"....

I figured out I had to disable Real Time Protection on Microsoft Security Essentials, then it would allow MalwareBytes Web Protection to start.
