Hi

A friend purchased both Malwarebytes Anti-Malware & Anti-Exploit on 7 Dec. Cost of around $70. Now finds out that if had waited one day could have got both those and more in Malwarebytes 3 for much less. Told my friend that's just bad luck and unlikely to get a refund of portion of payment. Friend not very happy with Malwarebytes. Friend says Malwarebytes should have had some kind of warning or notice that a much more comprehensive version would be released the next day and they would be wise to postpone purchase till the next day.

What say you? Should Malwarebytes have given some notice and or should Malwarebytes give a refund of portion of the payment?

Trouble is, no matter how early a notice would appear prior to 8 Dec some people would still not be happy, even if it was a month prior to version 3 release.

Hello @yardmetre and :welcome::

Malwarebytes does not normally pre-announce nor forecast a product's precise release date/time.  This forum is probably the best indicator as to when a possible product, or a possible new product, is nearing a release period and what the possible details may be.

All is not lost.  A purchaser can request a refund for a license anytime within the first thirty (30) days of sale if the purchase was made through cleverbridge.  Otherwise, your friend is free to convey either license to another to activate the MBAM 2.x/MB3 products.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it's been more than 30 days so that option is out. Regarding conveying, are you saying my friend could gift and or sell each license and each person who acquired a license could then activate it and thence upgrade to MB3, even though one license is for Anti-Exploit?

The following is a directly quoted excerpt from the locked/pinned Malwarebytes 3.0 - Frequently Asked Questions -> Existing Subscriptions post:

What will happen if I have both Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium subscriptions?
If you have both Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit, you will now have 2 Malwarebytes 3.0 subscriptions. If you don’t want the extra subscription, you can give it away to friends or family, or choose not to renew when you(r) subscription term is up.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  HTH
