Recommended Posts

Windows10 Pro here and have been unable to upgrrade to this version from the prior 3.0.4 version. Repeatedly being told that it can not replace the following file.

Try going to the Protection submenu and then disable both "Enabled self-protection module early start" and "Enabled self-protection module" and then run the 3.0.5 installer again.

If that doesn't help, you could try renaming MWACControllerImpl.dll (shown in your screenshot) to MWACControllerImpl.old. The dll file is located in C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware. The self-protection module will need to be disabled for that too.

The error shown in your screenshot is similar to the one shown in the following article where Mbam 3.0 couldn't be installed due to mbae64.sys causing an "Access Denied" error. http://techdows.com/2016/12/fix-malwarebytes-3-0-installation-mbae64-sys-error.html

Hi frozen :)

If the suggestion above doesn't work, uninstall Malwarebytes 3.0.4 first, and then install Malwarebytes 3.0.5. It should go through.

Hopefully MBAM developers will solve this in one of their next releases..?

Suppose that "Install Applications Updates" should work wtihout this 'workaround'.

MBAM v3.04 Free - "no updates are available"

Try using the Dashboard to check for updates by clicking the icon I've indicated with the red arrow in the screenshot.

The Malwarebytes 3.0.5 upgrade isn't being pushed through the program right now. It'll be next week probably.

Quote

If you’re running any earlier 3.0 version you will be prompted to upgrade at some point over the next week or so.

Same issue as frozen, but in my case it involved mbamtray.exe

uninstall, reboot and re-install v3.05 solved the matter.

For now, it is better to uninstall the previous Malwarebytes 3.0 version before installing the newest one. I would keep doing that until we get an official statement that the upgrade process has been fixed and/or stabilized.
