Help with removing possible rootkit

I ran Norton system scan. I ran Malwarebytes and Avira per instructions, and I am still having problems. I still have the box coming up saying "Bad Image globalroot\systemroot\system32\hjgruicghndulj.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error" any time I try to run any program. I worked with my nephew (who does IT work for a living) for several hours last night on trying to fix this issue. We finally determined that it looks like the virus is TR\Redol.C. The only program we could find that even recognized it was Anvira. However, it still could not remove the virus. It all appears that the virus is trying unsuccessfully to download others to my computer. Fortunately, these are being caught and deleted by Anvira. We have researched the virus online, but could not find any information about how to remove it.

We tried many avenues to find a way to locate and delete this virus, including running a program to detect hidden files, ccleaner, and several others. We tried going through the registry and other areas manually and seeing if we could find it, but no luck.

We came to the conclusion that this virus may be hiding in the operating system. We are not sure exactly what we should try next. We are considering refomating at this point. Any suggestions?

By the way i can see from the logs you have multiple AntiVirus softwares installed.

This can cause potential software/system conflicts if you have more than 1 running in realtime.

Hi ya,

With reguards AV in all honesty they are all about the same level so i have no reccomendation on which brand to use.

The importent thing is not to have more than 1 running at anyone time in realtime as they will conflict against each other whilst doing what they do.You can have one installed as a realtime guard and have more installed for on demand use but never good to have more than 1 running in realtime.

That said nothing is more effective then practicing safe computing habits because unfortunetly the best AV on any given day will not save a high risk user from becoming infected.
