your tv link virus/malware - help

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My computer has been infected by the yourtvlink virus. I have Windows 8.1. Your tv link is set as the homepage on my firefox browser and search is redirected to custom google search. My computer is running very slowly (100% of disk used).

I think the virus is trying to access google chrome (I usually use chrome) because everytime I try to run it I get a notification about chrome trying to change my computer - I have to decline access about 50 times each time before the notification stops appearing.  This problem has been solved before on this forum: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/topic/169347-yourtvlink-malwarevirus/

I have run a full system scan with Windows defender - came back clean. I tried to use Microsoft removal tool to remove any suspicious files detected. I used Malwarebytes yesterday and it detected a bunch of threats in chrome and firefox and deleted them but after rebooting the problem was back. After that I did a System restore to a point about two weeks ago when I know I didn't have problems and it didn't help.

Today I downloaded Malwarebytes again and I attached the report of the scan.

If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it :)

Hello and :welcome:

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button. button.

There is still a malware startup entry active. This will remove it.

  • Right-click on FRST.gif icon and select RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Hi again,

I followed your instructions and ran Farbar tool and clicked fix. The fix was running for at least 3 hours when I had to leave for the weekend so I left the computer on. When I got back and turned it on from sleep mode the fix was still running so I left it to run again. It still hasn't finished. How long is this supposed to take? I attached the fixlog file it created.
