PC Security 2009

Recommended Posts

hello reader,

1st i want to thank you for taking the time to read this and please forgive me if i have posted this in the wrong area and or talk about a already solved issue. I have currently picked up the wonderful virus PC Security 2009. in this situation i would run my Malwarebytes program (great program by the way), but i am unable to open it. i have tried uninstalling the program in order to reinstall to see if that is the issue (still doesn't work). i have tried reinstalling the program and it gets all the way through that, but when trying to launch the program it doesn't work. i have tried to download the program to a thumb drive and the same events take place (nothing happens when i run program from thumb drive). also tried running this in safe mode and still not working

since picking up the virus my kaspersky anti-virus wont get ride of the problem and i also downloaded avg free and that has also not gotten ride of the virus (not running at the same time).

Any thoughs on what i can do to get the program running again?

Hi,

I notice from your log that there's more than 1 Antivirus installed. Kaspersky and AVG

Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously!

The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.

Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown.

So you have to make a decision here and keep the Antivirus you prefer and uninstall the other one.

Then reboot after uninstalling.

Then, First please take a look and see if any of these posts help you to get MBAM running or not.

Potential Malware infection issues to review to get MBAM running

If none of above apply in your case, then try if Malwarebytes works when you rename mbam.exe. This is the file located in the Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder. So rename mbam.exe to blah.exe (or so). It also happens in some cases that malware blocks EVERY process except for what is in its own whitelist, so these include system important processes. So that's why it may be a good idea to rename mbam.exe to explorer.exe or so.

Also try to run Mbam from Windows Safe mode.

i know your not supposed to have 2 anti virus programs at the same time. i downloaded AVG free since kasper wasnt catching anything. neither ended up working so im trying hard to get Malwarebytes up and running. ill give the above info a try when i return home from meetings out of town.

  • 2 weeks later...

so sorry for the extremely late reply. i ended up getting the problem resolved by borrowing my gf's laptop- dl'ing the file to a thumb drive; then changing the .exe file to blah.exe and running it in safe mode.

thanks for all the help
