Only have guest access on Win 7 laptop

Recommended Posts

I am locked out of my own Win 7 (older, home edition) computer.

My laptop stopped  recognizing the admin password, so I am now a “guest.”

With only guest access,  I don’t have permission to  “make changes,” so I’m unable to  install an unzip program to open up the Malwarebytes “anti-rootkit” tool I downloaded.

That’s after I tried every one of the “chameleon” recovery tools, and none of them worked.

Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes.

Malwarebytes products are not going to help you recover you passwords to any accounts or programs.  Also the Malwarebytes Forum can not help you on procedures on how to recover your admin password.

That being said, you may try another forum dedicated to Windows 7 and such for example Windows 7 Help Forums.  There are also many tools that can be used to recover your password, a simple Google search would yield plenty of results.

Hope that helps lead you in the right direction.
