repeated BSOD (BAD_POOL_CALLER) after install MB Anti-Ransomware beta 8 build 9.17.661

I installed MB Anti-Ransomware beta 8 build 9.17.661 on Win 10 home 64-bit on an HP 2000 laptop with 8gb of RAM memory.

BSOD short time later. The system was sitting idle while installed the beta on other systems.

Manual power off (via power button for 5 seconds).

Power on and again BSOD.

BSOD happens quickly on reboot. Windows GUI never appears. Repeated several times.


Eventually Win 10 offered to do a SYSTEM RESTORE to an earlier time--I took it as Windows was not ever going to get off the ground.

The SYSTEM RESTORE took a long time--it removed anti-ransomware and the system now works fine.


Overnight I ran Win Mem Diag for two passes using rigorous testing--all OK.


General notes:

AVG Free is the anti-virus program on this HP2000 system. AVG program version 16.131.7924 .

The anti-ransomware beta seems to be doing OK on three other systems.


Ran NirSoft bluescreenview v1.55 to look at the only memory dump still on the system. At 300+ megabytes this file is too big to attach (as per words on your "drag files bar").

The requested memory dump file is 300+ megabytes and the forum web site will not allow me to attach it--I tried just now.

I'll send it another way if you tell me what works.

I usually use WeTransfer.com for large files. All I need is a destination email address--but I've never sent a 300 megabyte file.

I understand.  For now, simply move the .dmp file away from its present minidump directory and to a temporary place where agressive clean-up utilities are unlikely to delete it.

More data requests to follow.  Thank you again.

Please consider reparameterizing, the Windows system in question, to render future Small Memory Dumps (Minidumps) versus its current setting.

Please read Diagnostic Logs and individually attach the 2 requested logs only from Log Set 1 in a reply to this thread.  Those diagnostic output text logs to be attached are FRST.txt and Addition.txt.

Additionally, please consider generating a Windows System Restore Point.

If you are willing, all may have been as it should be, but try the following MBARW Beta8 uninstall & re-install procedure to guarantee proper ownerships and integrity:

  1. Delete any and all previous copies of MBARW_Setup.exe and perform a conventional Windows-based uninstall of Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware version followed by a system restart to Windows Normal boot mode.
  2. Then, download a fresh copy of the MBARW_Setup.exe to the system's Administrator desktop only.
  3. Right-click the saved MBARW_Setup.exe file icon and left-click RunAsAdmin.jpg  Run as administrator from the context menu and continue.  <===IMPORTANT!
  4. Upon a successful installation, restart the computer in a conventional manner to the Windows Normal boot mode.
  5. After MBARW Beta8's license activation has completed, check to see the issue is resolved.
