Have 64-bit Windows 7 but my MBAM Premium is 32-bit

Recommended Posts

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium is currently installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware which, presumably is the 32-bit directory for installed programs.

I have seen and read recommendations on the pages of this forum for Mbam to coexist with other security programs, listing the suggested file locations to be added to the other apps' exclusion list. From the paths of the ones I've seen they appear to be C:\Program Files [minus the x86 designator].

I've absolutely no complaints about the preformance of it, but continue to wonder if the currently installed directory location is something to be concerned over.

Hello and Welcome!

The current installer for Malwarebytes is the same installer for both 32 and 64 bit computers.  There is nothing to be concerned about.  below is the list of files that need to be excluded with version 2x...

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software (not sure what version you are using):

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well

For 32 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8 & Windows 10:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 / 8 & 10:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamresearch.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exe

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE, MBAMSERVICE.EXE and MBAMRESEARCH.EXE from it as well

While I suspected that Mbam resided in a place where it belonged, thank you ever so much for clearing up my perceived confusion as to which precise directory in my W7 computer for Mbam was the correct one, Firefox.

I can't say with certainty where I got the notion that x86 inferred 32-bit, so additional thanks for making that fact more apparent to me.
