Possible Infection from pop-up?

Recommended Posts

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to malware or viruses, so unsure if any actual infection took place.
When clicking on a website a pop-up opened with a URL similar to 104 dot 154 dot 237 dot 193... and then other letters after all that.
The pop-up immediately closed.

Of course wanting to be safe after something like this I ran Malware Bytes and nothing was detected, and still in the middle of running an even more thorough scan, but nothing detected yet.
I don't show anything, or any file downloaded in any way, neither in my default download folder or in Chromes download history.

So from my basic knowledge it doesn't seem this could've caused an infection, if someone has heard of this and/or believes possible infection I'd appreciate any advice on actions to take.
Or even better if you don't think an infection was possible then reassurance of this is appreciated as well.

Hello and :welcome:

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button. button.

  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.

  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
