Weird Google webpage redirect

Recommended Posts

Hey,

So very recently (only around a day ago), I have had this weird issue where google would instantly be redirected to a fake version of itself.

I'm not sure exactly how to explain this, so I provided a gif:

As you can see, I search something into the address bar, which should instantly be directed straight to Google, but it doesn't do that. Instead it goes to google for a split second and redirects to some weird website that looks almost exactly the same as google.

What I've tried so far:

- Reinstall Google Chrome

- Performed a Malware Scan on Malwarebytes

- Tried changing homepage on Google Chrome settings

- Tried clearing the cache of Google Chrome within the settings

I'm not sure what else to try.

Hello and :welcome:

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button. button.

  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.

  • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

The program just keeps looping saying that it needs an update, so it updates itself, and then says its ready, but then updates itself again as if it didn't do it before and does that over and over endlessly for what it seems.
