Links from Google redirected to inappropriate sites... Help!

Some recent links I've searched for on Google take me to inappropriate sites and/or links to "Download this privacy search engine" type things... I know not to download from those links because it's obviously some kind of virus but I don't know how clean this all up.... I'm not sure what antivirus software I have on my computer or if it is still active but I want my computer to have a clean sweep of any virus and I want the ease of knowing it's not affected anymore! 

Please help! I'm not incredibly tech savvy so explaining in layman's terms would be fantastic..

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

• Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
• Press Scan button. button.

  

• It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  

• The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
