single file scan only works 1 out of 50 times

Recommended Posts

When I right click a file and choose to scan it with Malware Bytes: 1 out of 50 times I get the single file scan user interface and it does what it is supposed to do. The other 49 times out of 50 right clicking a file and choosing to single file scan with Malware Bytes I just get the main Malware Bytes user interface and am forced to do a custom scan. Which which even with Scan Memory Objects, Scan Startup and Registry Settings and Scan Archives all unchecked it still scans more than the one chosen file and takes forever. Scanning DNSBench.exe 163 KB: Malware Bytes scanned 258,878 files.

This is Version 2.2.1.1043, configured correctly in General settings. This is the second windows 7 install on this pc, the first being 4 years long and both times have had this same problem with both ver 2.1.6.1022 and ver 2.2.1.1043.

Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes :)

Let's try this first....

  1. Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  2. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs(the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
  3. NOTE: More info about v2.2.1 HERE; User Guide ONLINE; User Guide PDF; FAQ: Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,
