KnowBe4's RanSim Utility

Recommended Posts

Can Malwarebytes please comment on the results I'm seeing with knowbe4.com's recently released free tool called 'Ransomware Simulator'?  Is the simulator faulty or is Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomeware not catching ransomeware-like activity?  On a Windows 7 SP1 64-bit PC with MEE 1.80.2.1012 build date 02/09/16, MAE for Business 1.08.2.2572, and Symantec Antivirus 12.1.6, when I run the KnowBe4's Ransomware Simulator all five scenarios are "vulnerable".  After installing Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomeware Beta 0.9.17.661, two of the five scenarios are still "vulnerable".

Thanks!

I have had the same problem. I am using Malwarebytes Premium 3.0.4.1269 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine that is fully patched. See attached screenshot. In this case, the new Malwarebytes failed 7 out of the 10 tests. I have submitted a support ticket (case #1174481) with Malwarebytes to see what they say. This is very disconcerting since it is stated that this product can fully replace my antivirus tool, see here: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/191748-announcing-malwarebytes-30-a-next-generation-antivirus-replacement/.

Looking forward to some updates.
