Should I install antivirus as well?

Recommended Posts

Hi Karl :)

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware isn't an Antivirus, but an Antimalware like it's name state. It is used to complement your current Antivirus solution and add another layer of protection. So yes, you need to install an Antivirus in order to stay secure. If you have Windows 8, 8.1 or 10, you already have an Antivirus built-in (Windows Defender, which is an enhanced Microsoft Security Essentials).

Edit: Just noticed that you posted this question in the Mobile section of Malwarebytes. Are you using the Mobile version, or the desktop version?

Then yes, the same still applies to tablets and smartphones, you need an Antivirus as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is an Antimalware and will complement your Antivirus solution. The Windows Defender comment I made above doesn't apply to tablets and smartphones.

There should be no program in enabling Malwarebytes Anti-Malware real-time protection as it shouldn't conflict with your Antivirus' real-time protection. Doing so will add an additional layer of protection on your device, which is what you want.
