Please start with these free, bootable hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html
The hard drive test is the most important at this point - but please also run the MemTest - just in case.

If you have trouble with these tests, please post back with the make and model of your system - along with the OS that you are using (Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, etc)

 Check RAM memory
Apart from hard drive or BIOS, the “A disk read error occurred” can result from faulty RAM stick or slot. Therefore, in face of this error message, you should go to do an informative test on RAM of your PC. There are some related tools available in the market. You can select a reliable one.
