Why «Enable self-protection module» not activated in recommended settings

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I could not find a single entry regarding «Enable self-protection module». Therefore and because I could not even find an explanation in malwarebytes help wether it should be enabled or nor, I would like to know, why self-protection module (as well as «Enable self-protection early start») is not enabled as per «recommended settings»? Aspect of time cannot be a «good» answer, can it?

Does this not give additional protection/security?

Tks/rgs

Hello tamaleus:

https://support.malwarebytes.com/customer/portal/articles/1834890-what-is-the-self-protection-module-and-why-should-i-enable-it-?b_id=6438

https://www.malwarebytes.com/support/guides/mbam/AdvancedSettings.html > Enable self-protection.

Good arguments can be made for either side of the default settings of the self-protection module.

Many users will wish to tweak a few of the default settings, particularly after a clean or first-time install.  If the protections of the self-protection module (SPM) are enabled by default, these alterations would be interpreted as undesired and be blocked.

In addition to settings, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware files & directories enjoy SPM's protections.

Thank you.
