Hi Folks,

I'm infected with 'pup.optional.terraclicks.shrtcln' and have followed the advice posted here to download and use Farbar.  However, when I try to run the programme, the main user screen of Farbar flashes up on my screen, but before I can do anything it disappears from my screen and and the downloaded file also vanishes!!

Any thoughts /assistance appreciated.

BTW I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit (and I am downloading the 64 bit file).

Thanks,

Fred

P.S.  FYI, I also just re-ran the malwarebytes scanner it picked up SpigotA....I did a 'Delete' and re-ran MWB and it now seems to be gone

Ok tried that and managed to get it to run.  I performed the scan and it gives me the scan report, but when I select 'fix' it says:

"nofixlist.txt found.  The fixlist.txt should be in the same folder/directory the tool is located."

However, the text file does appear in the same download folder as the FRST programme and so what do I do next?

FRST.gif Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

icon_exclaim.gif This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine. icon_exclaim.gif

icon_exclaim.gif Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. icon_exclaim.gif

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on FRST.gif icon and select RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

After reboot, tell me is everything okay now.
