Hey all, been using Malwarebytes for a year or so now, and it helped me clean my sisters junked up laptop filled with 3rd party toolbars and all this other garbage, saved us a lot of money.

Recently, my friend had sent me a dropbox link to his new cheating program for a game, I haven't known him for too long, and I was wondering what I should do to make sure its safe?

(sorry if this was a stupid thing to ask, I'm just trying to find help, and I figured this is the place where I could find it) :)

The safest thing is to just say "Thank you but, no thank you."

You can scan it at Virus Total to see if any vendors flag it.  Many "Game Cheats" may get flagged as a "Hacktool".

My advice, do not use it.  However I do suggest you submit it in;   Newest Malware Threats  after reading the following on how to submit samples of malware.
