Stopped attack

Recommended Posts

A zip file was attached to an email I received that appeared to come from a legitimate source. The zip file was infected with what appeared to be a ransom ware encryption. Attached is the page that flashed on my screen but the Beta worked to stop it from encrypting my files in Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. However, this encryption warning remained as an overly on my screen. I was able to remove it by restoring to an earlier restore point.

Thank you for the feedback, Rapporteur!

Very happy to hear your files were not encrypted.

We do hope to improve our cleanup of the messages and ransom notes that are sometimes left behind. For now, since these in and of themselves aren't malicious they're being addressed as a lower priority.  We prefer to focus on fine-tuning the detection technology to stop ever more ransomware attacks. :)
