YourTv.Link removal HELP

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Over this weekend I noticed that my laptop has slowed down a lot and my google chrome has been hijacked by YourTv.Link. It has taken over the default search engine in Chrome with admin permission. I've tried changing registry.pol to .sav but it came back. At least in Firefox I can still use google. Please help. I've tried every cookie cutter guideline articles out there.

First, I scanned with Malwarebytes and it caught two of them (unknown and firefox). Check the screenshot please. I think the earlier ones are not related to this.

I ran Junkware removal tool and AdwCleaner. Please take a look at the files in the attachment. I rand Bitdefender adware but caught nothing. I'm currently running Bitdefender Total Security 2016 system scan but since I have to work and my PC shuts down after a while it's still not finished. I'll post the screengrab anyway just in case.

Please let me know if you need me to run more tests or how to proceed. I may not be able to get back immediately during weekdays and living in a different timezone. Please understand. Thanks.

Oh, I reset and cleared everything in my browsers out of panic. I'm not sure that made it worse. I also want to upgrade and pay the full version of malwarebytes but I'm scared to put my credit info on this laptop right now.

Hello LipstickVoid

Now I need you to download this script that I have made for you --> fixlist.txt

It needs to be saved Next to the  "Farbar Recovery Scan Tool" (FRST) program (If asked to overwrite existing one please allow)

Run FRST again but this time press the Fix button just once and wait.

When finished, it will make a log (fixlog.txt) next to FRST. Please attach the contents of this file to your reply.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

Hello

I would like to reset Chrome back to defaults to completely clear out what is going on with Chrome.

You can keep your “Bookmarks” if you want to keep them, but you have to export them first – >> Export Bookmarks << – Everything else should be removed.

Then I need you to go to >> Google Sync << and sign into your account.
Scroll down until you see the reset sync button and click on the button
At the prompt click on Ok.

.
Reset Your Browser Settings
.

  1. In the top-right corner of the browser window, click the “Chrome Menu” icon (Three horizontal lines)
  2. Select Settings.
  3. At the bottom, click Show advanced settings…
  4. Scroll down until you see “Reset settings”, Then click on the button Reset Settings.
  5. In the dialog that appears, click Reset.

.
Close Chrome and restart it and check it out for me please

.

Hi,

I followed your steps and the custom search is still there. I noticed one thing. I have Chrome pinned on my taskbar. When I launch it, it used to expand right where its pinned icon was like how firefox is in the pic but as you can see google chrome opens up all the way to the right of the taskbar. I don't know if that's something relevant to what's happening. Is it a fake chrome.exe the one that's launching and not the pinned/real one? Just wanted to let you know. Thanks.

.

I would also like you to rerun “FRST” for me again and send me the new report for me to check over.

If you cannot find where you saved “FRST” the first time then here are the links again for you.
.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your computer. If you are not sure which version applies to your computer, then download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your computer, and that will be the right version.

.
For 32-bit (x86) editions of Windows: >> FRST.exe <<

For 64-bit (x64) editions of Windows: >> FRST64.exe <<

.

  1. Run the “FRST” download that works on your computer
  2. When the tool opens click Yes for the disclaimer in order to continue using “FRST”.
  3. Under the section called “Whitelist” make sure all boxes are checked
  4. Under the section called “Optional Scan” I would like you to have a check mark next to “Addition.txt”
  5. Press the Scan button.
  6. When the scan is done, it will save the reports to the same location as “FRST” (if you had saved “FRST” on your desktop, then the reports will be saved on the desktop).
  7. Please attach the “FRST.txt” and the “Addition.txt” log file to your next reply to me (it is best if you do not copy and paste it into an e-mail).

.

When you reply back to me you should have Two reports for me and I need you to tell me how things are doing.

Hi,

My laptop kept freezing after the last fix. I had firefox opened and reading a reddit discussion and it froze. The taskbar kept refreshing and it then totally disappeared. Please check the pic I took from my phone. You can see the task bar is blank.

I couldn't get to task manager or do anything else. I had to do a forced shut down and reboot it. It has happened twice since my last post.

I'll update whether this happens again or not.IMG_6670.png

It's freezing again. Shut down and rebooted a couple of times but it keeps freezing. I had to wait for like 10 minutes to be able to click anything.

It was working for a few minutes and now it's frozen again. Malwarebytes was trying to update during that couple of minutes but nothing was happening.

Now malwarebytes has upated but I had my iTunes opened and that's still freezing. It seems to me like there's some kind of bottleneck going on.

I want you to completely remove Chrome from the computer, We saved your bookmarks before so you can import them back later.

I want you to use this program called Revo to uninstall it – during the install you might be asked about user data or user settings – I want these to be removed also

.

  1. Click this link to start the download – Revo Uninstaller
  2. Wait for download to start and click on “Save”
  3. Double click Revo Uninstaller to run it.
  4. From the list of programs double click on
    • “Chrome”
  5. When prompted if you want to uninstall click Yes.
  6. Be sure the “Moderate” option is selected then click Next.
  7. The program will run, If prompted again click Yes
  8. when the built-in uninstaller is finished click on Next.
  9. Once the program has searched for leftovers click Next.
  10. If there is anything left over in the Registry section Check/tick the bolded items only on the list then click Delete
  11. If they are any leftovers in the File and Folder section then they may all be removed
  12. Once done click Finish.

.

Now that we have it completely uninstalled I want you to restart the computer and then after the restart you can reinstall Chrome from here – http://www.google.com/chrome/

.
