Is MBAM premium a antivirus?

Recommended Posts

Welcome, looney, to the MBAM Forum.  MBAM Premium, and Free, are both anti-malware products.  They do not replace an anti-virus program.  MBAM does compliment an anti-virus program and runs well with them, although sometimes exceptions need to be added to both products so that they play nicely.

For a brief description of the different roles and types of protection software, please see this Bleeping Computer topic.

Hope this helps.  Have a great day.

In addition to the excellent advice already offered, this KB article explains the complementary role of MBAM alongside an antivirus:

Does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware replace antivirus software?

There are many fine AV choices, free and paid.  This pinned topic lists a few options, as well as links to other resources:

Final note: MBAM Free does not provide real-time protection -- it is only a manual, on-demand scanner to REMOVE infections.  Real-time protection to help PREVENT infection requires a paid, Premium license.
