1) I haven't had "one-minutes" prob with MBARW until 2 days ago. I see several posts with the similar problem today.
2) I worked on it when it occured but had no luck.
3) Today I followed the instructions for a clean install posted here:

but I still get the Dashboard (with the unresponsive "Fix Now" button)
4) Thanks in advance friends

Hello beach48:

Using the Windows built-in zip utility, please create the following 2, separate, zipped archives for MBARW developer team analysis:

1. Create a .zip archive of the directory C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware\
2. Create a separate .zip archive of the directory C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\logs\

Please attach the 2 zipped archives to your next reply.  Thank you for your beta testing contribution to the MBARW project and your valued feedback.

Hello friend. Maybe I got a little ahead of my self. When my MBARW stalled I first tried the "clean install" instructions found in the link I posted earlier
(should be this one -

That didn't help me so I then started this post to get help. But after re-thinking I decided to retry the same clean install a second time, and maybe i goofed on the first try because the second fixed the prob. on my system. Attached is a simple copy of the instructions I followed. word for word.Hope you get it....I don't feel like I'm helping much.

  • 2 weeks later...

Greetings 1PW...I stayed on this earlier post of mine so you'd know what happened before now. Pretty much the same situation has occurred here again as I described at the first of this topic......kinda sorta hehe
1) aug 10 - power outage
a) ARW would not load in Tray; had to bring it to Desktop
b) The Fix Now & Start Protection were dead
c) Felt a little wierd so I rebooted 2nd time
d) Same as a (above)
e) That time the Fix Now worked correctly
2) aug 12 - shut down to chg DVD Drive
a) Exactly the same as a thru e (2 days ago)
I created the 2 attached Zips on the 1st startup today
while it was dead. I feel like I am a bother. Keep feeling
like it's something on my end. Big thanks in advance.

I feel like I am a bother.

That is far from the truth beach48.  Your posted observations and archive data are exactly what is needed to show the developer team what is and is not working as intended.  When you think it's appropriate, please do not hesitate to post.

Rather than a simple re-install of MBARW Beta7, please consider a clean install of MBARW Beta7:

1. Close all open user applications followed by a conventional Windows based uninstall of Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware through the Windows system Control Panel.
2. If MBARW Beta7 was uninstalled successfully, the following sub-directories will have been deleted from a typical Windows 10 x64 system:

                         C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\
                         C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware\
                         C:\ProgramData\MBAMService\

3. If any of the above directories remain, please delete them manually.  If necessary, any remaining/uninstalled directory must be deleted in the Windows Safe mode.
4. Execute a conventional Windows restart to the Normal Windows boot mode and log-in through an Administrator's account. <===IMPORTANT!
5. Using an Administrator's account only, download a fresh MBARW_Setup.exe file and save to the Administrator's Desktop from the Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware BETA 7 Now Available topic.
6. Right-click the saved MBARW_Setup.exe file and left-click RunAsAdmin.jpg  Run as administrator from the context menu and continue.
7. Upon a successful installation, please restart the computer in a conventional manner to the Windows Normal boot mode.

Please reply to your topic with the status of your reported issue.  Thank you for beta testing MBARW and your valued feedback.

Alrighty 1PW.....
1) I did a clean re-install at your suggestion following your instructions
2) ARW activated itself properly (protection enabled - no error)
3) However; it didn't auto-load into the System tray (I had to activate the app)
---------------------------------------------
Question about something I noticed....
1) When I uninstalled thru CP....these 3 were removed.(as they should have been)
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\
C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware\
C:\ProgramData\MBAMService\
But another directory   C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes (I made a Zip but it's
too large to post here) was still there (and it has references to ARW & MBAM
Service inside it). Is that proper for it to stay there unmolested after a CP uninstall?
And again....thanks mucho for all your staff.

This is expected behavior and why the Clean Install procedure requests the C:\ProgramData\MBAMService\ sub-directory be removed in Windows 10 Safe Mode to properly complete the clean removal process.

If this removal step was not completed, but MBARW Beta7 is apparently working okay, then in this instance please allow things to remain as they are for now.

Thank you.

Hello @IanNichecom and :welcome:

It is disappointing to read your Consumer Beta testing system is having MBARW Beta issues but each computer is unique.  Problems that seem "the same" frequently are not.  The same is true for solutions.  Solutions may often need to be individualized for your unique testing system.

It is less confusing for everyone if a "One Member Per Topic" policy is adhered to instead of posting to the topic of another member.  Development Team Members, Staffers, and Helpers will be able to more easily provide both you and the OP/Topic Starter, with individualized assistance.

Please start a NEW, and SEPARATE topic by left-clicking this >>Start New Topic<< link now.

Thank you always for your patience and understanding.
