Might have malware

Please download ZOEK by Smeenk and save it to your desktop.
Temporary disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection - instructions here.

  • Right-click on 51a612a8b27e2-Zoek.png icon and select RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator to start the tool.
  • Wait patiently until the main console will appear, it may take a minute or two.
  • In the main box please paste in the following script:
    createsrpoint;
    autoclean;
    emptyclsid;
    emptyalltemp;
    ipconfig /flushdns >>"%temp%\log.txt";b
  • Make sure that Scan All Users option is checked.
  • Push Run Script and wait patiently. The scan may take a couple of minutes.
  • When the scan completes, a zoek-results logfile should open in notepad.
  • If a reboot is needed, it will be opened after it. You may also find it at your main drive (usually C:\ drive)

I've attempted it twice more. The DaS21 error occurs. I attempt to "X" out of the program after ample time. Zoek window stays open stating "Zoek is running now" but the program doesn't end. I left it on overnight, same issue. To get Zoek to stop I must restart the CPU. Results same as what I posted prior. Thoughts?

Yes, it is known to happen sometimes. We will skip Zoek.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save the file to your Desktop.

  • Right-click on adwcleaner_new.png icon and select RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator to start the tool.
  • Accept the Terms of use.
  • Wait until the database is updated.
  • Click Scan.
  • When finished, please click Cleaning.
  • Your PC should reboot now.
  • After reboot, logfile will be opened. Copy its content into your next reply.

Note: Reports will be saved in your system partition, usually at C:\Adwcleaner

PC wasn't ever behaving strangely. The problem was that a support specialist with Roku remoted onto the system and told my mother-in-law the system had a rootkit virus (and then asked for 300$ to remove it!). She had called Roku because she was having trouble adding a channel.
