Scan on iMac taking hours

MBAM worked great on my mid-2008 aluminum Macbook; it found some mal/adware in seconds.

But on my mid-2007 iMac -- which has the required Core 2 Duo and 4 GB RAM, and is running El Capitan -- it's been scanning for hours and, based on the blue progress line, is nowhere near being done.

It wouldn't cancel so I force quit and started the scan again, but same thing.

Any ideas?

Can you send a system snapshot taken with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac? To do so, open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac and choose Take System Snapshot from the Scanner menu. Then, in the window that opens, select all the text (Edit → Select All), copy it and paste into a reply to this message.
