Does MalwareBytes Premium block Ransomware?

Recommended Posts

Hello and Welcome!

That is basically a loaded question.  Short answer is yes, it does block and help from getting infected from known Ransomware's that are listed in Malwarebytes definition files.  Ransomware changes daily, so its important to keep your computer updated with the latest Microsoft Updates, Java, Antivirus and Anti-Malware etc.

Its important to have layered security, at a minimum I would recommend the following:

  1. Good updated Antivirus Software
  2. Malwarebytes Premium
  3. Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit

Your reasoning is your opinion of course... your antivirus program as well as your antimalware program is not always 100% accurate.  This is no different than going to the doctors office.  The doctors can only treat for what is known out there, if it is a new virus or sickness they can't treat for it as they did not know it existed.

So, a better answer would be, in my opinion " Any antimalware / antivirus (MBAM or not!) can protect you against a specific  Ransomaware as long as has the required mechanism or definition. to protect, if not....not!!"

That's pretty much it for everything. The perfect security doesn't exist, and never will. As soon as the human won't be a perfect creature, anything we will create won't be either. It's really that simple, and it's not only limited to technology.
