Anti Ransomware not working on Windows 10

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

I have AmtiRansomeware version  0.9.16 484 installed,

When I start I get 'Message Lost' with the text  'Unable to connect to service'

And that's all!

When I check services, the MB3SERVICE is Stopped. If I start the service and try to run it, AR fails with exactly the same message and the service has stopped again.

Any ideas?

Hello norman1312 and :welcome:

Please create the following zipped archives for MBARW developer team analysis:

Create a .zip archive of the directory C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware\
Create another .zip archive of the directory C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\logs\

Please attach the above zipped archives to your next reply.  Thank you for beta testing MBARW and your valuable feedback.

Hello norman1312:

Rather than a simple re-install of MBARW Beta6, please consider a clean install of MBARW Beta7:

1. Close all open user applications followed by a conventional Windows based uninstall of Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware through the Windows system Control Panel.
2. If MBARW Beta6 was uninstalled successfully, the following sub-directories will have been deleted from a typical Windows 10 x64 system:

                         C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\
                         C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware\
                         C:\ProgramData\MBAMService\

3. If any of the above directories remain, please delete them manually.  If necessary, any remaining/uninstalled directory must be deleted in the Windows Safe mode.
4. Execute a conventional Windows restart to the Normal Windows boot mode and log-in through an Administrator's account. <===IMPORTANT!
5. Using an Administrator's account only, download a fresh MBARW_Setup.exe file and save to the Administrator's Desktop from the Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware BETA 7 Now Available topic.
6. Right-click the saved MBARW_Setup.exe file and left-click RunAsAdmin.jpg  Run as administrator from the context menu and continue.
7. Upon a successful installation, please restart the computer in a conventional manner to the Windows Normal boot mode.

Please reply to your topic with the status of your reported issue.  Thank you for beta testing MBARW and your valued feedback.

I have installed the beta on three computers and each one runs fine until after a series of re-boots over a number of days.  I tend to fully close down my computers after I have finished using them. Anit-ransomware works fine on the initial boot-ups for a couple of days.  Then it decides not to start, and for whatever reason, the only way I can then get it to work again is by completely removing the software as per PW's instructions and re-installing.  I have had to do this at least twice on each computer now, so I think I will wait for the next Beta and see if there has been any improvement.  Each computer has the same configuration of Win 10 64-bit, KIS 2016 and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Home and Anti-Exploit Premium running.

I have followed 1PW's instructions to the letter. At 2. all the directories had gone. I am an Administrator, and downloaded the file using this account. I ran it as an Administrator. It appeared to install correctly BUT I still get the same message!

I think I'll also have to wait for the next beta and see if that fixes the problem.

Any idea when that's due?

Hello norman1312:

Please create a new set of zipped archives for MBARW developer team analysis:

Create a .zip archive of the directory C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware\
Create another .zip archive of the directory C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\logs\

Please attach the above archives to your next reply.  Thank you.

Hello norman1312:

The logs do show that MBARW Beta7 (v 0.9.16.484) has been installed, unfortunately, that install was on top of Beta6 (v 0.9.15.416) versus the recommended clean install.

You may wish to re-apply the instructions from post #7 where steps 1 through 3 are the most critical.

Then, please update your topic with your latest system status.  Thank you.

So it would seem that, at least for the betas, you need to completely remove the previous version before installing the latest.

Hello norman1312:

That is a rare instance when a clean install is called for.  Installing the most recent beta on top of the previous version is still the preferred method of upgrade such as is the case with automatic updates.

Thank you for the good news update.
