Hello, I just had my laptop fall victim to virus/worm/malware and I seriously need some help. For starters, I have Norton Internet Security 2009 that's up to date and I had Malwarebytes already installed previously. Just a few days before it really got bad I used both programs to help delete a few trojands/worms/malware from the laptop and everything was 100% fine, or so I thought. This morning I boot my Laptop and I get the RPC terminated unexpectedly and shuts down in 60 secs. Well I finally got around that by using the cmd then shutdown.exe -a command to prevent it from shutting down.

Now I got these major issues. First, I tried running malwarebytes and norton in normal AND safemode but neither will work. The error I get from the malwarebytes is that stupid vbalsgrid6.ocx error. It worked perfectly fine before so I uninstalled it and tried reinstalling but during the installation, it comes up with the same error.

The next issue is that the laptop won't connect to the internet. It was connected through my wireless router but it won't connect now. I tried connecting an ethernet cable and still doesn't connect. I go to control panel, internet connections and nothing shows up.

Since the internet doesn't work, I downloaded a few programs and removal tools from my pc and put them on my sd card and put it in to the laptop. Through this I have tried the blaster and sasser worm removal tool from norton but in both cases, it crashes before it finishes. I also tried spybot, but that requires internet to download the installer... Then I tried doing that in safemode, but the problem is the malware has disabled ctrl-v and paste/move functions and I can't access the sd card drive from safemode.

I've read somewhere to uninstall malwarebytes, then install subinacl, then run a .bat file, then reinstall malwarebytes. Someone said it worked for them, so I tried it and the subinacl won't install.

I also read somewhere to try RootRepeal, I tried it and it froze and crashed before it got to delete some hidden .sys file that it found.

Oh and one last thing, I tried to do a system restore through msconfig and it gives me an error so I'm out of options and need some serious help please!

  • Using these other tools often makes the cleanup task more difficult and time consuming.

  • Do not assume you're clean because you don't see something in the logs. Please wait until the person assisting you provides feedback.
  • There are often many others that require asistance as well, so please be patient. If no one has responded within 48 hours then please go ahead and post a request for review
  • NOTE: If for some reason you're unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one.
